You can give a laundry list of interesting history about Bowling Green’s 28-20 win at St. Xavier last night.
It was BG’s first win against St. X in nine tries. It was the first time a Kentucky team other than Trinity has beaten the Tigers since Male did it in 2006.
But when the scoreboard hit zero, the Purples were determined to act like they’d been there before.
Bowling Green (3-0) got two rushing touchdowns from quarterback Scooter Hollis and a pair of big defensive plays in the second half, helping drop St. X to 1-2.
Hollis and BG coach Kevin Wallace acknowledged the significance of the win, but there was already plenty of talk about next week’s opponent, Henderson County, during postgame interviews.
It’s all part of the “business-like” approach the Purples say they’re trying to maintain, no matter the size of the victory.
