Plenty of coverage of WKU’s hiring of Bobby Petrino at bgdailynews.com right now, but here’s a quick statement from WKU president Gary Ransdell, who’s currently in China on official business.
“My compliments to Todd Stewart for immediately going to work following Coach Taggart’s abrupt departure to USF. He quickly assessed the BCS landscape and determined the best course of action to propel WKU football to highest level of FBS competition. Our head coaching job was the envy of numerous assistant and head coaches across the NCAA. In Coach Petrino, we hired a recruiter and coach who will lead our program to that level of competition and success which Todd and I have charted for our program. We believe Coach Petrino is among the best coaches in college football. We welcome Bobby and Becky Petrino to WKU. While Coach Petrino is out recruiting, we are all in for Coach Guidry and our Hilltoppers as they prepare to beat Central Michigan University in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl on December 26.”
