UPDATE: Not much else to say about Govan’s injury, as Heard declined to elaborate on it after the game. She did confirm that the decision to not play Govan was made today. Here is the complete game story from WKU’s 74-65 loss at South Alabama.
Western Kentucky junior guard Alexis Govan is out for today’s game at South Alabama with a lower left leg injury, according to WKU.
“As a source of treatment, Govan is currently in a walking boot and crutches in order to maximize her recovery efforts,” WKU said in a statement. “Her return date is to be determined.”
Govan – the Sun Belt Conference’s preseason player of the year – is averaging 16.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game for the Lady Tops (8-3). Redshirt freshman guard Kendall Noble is taking Govan’s place in the starting lineup.
I’ll have more on Govan’s status going forward after the game from WKU coach Michelle Clark-Heard.
