The Western Kentucky women’s basketball team picked up a 2015 verbal commitment Thursday from Dee Givens, a 6-foot-1-inch forward out of Lafayette High School in Lexington.
Givens confirmed her commitment on Twitter. WKU coach Michelle Clark-Heard can’t comment specifically about Givens until after the player signs a national letter of intent.
“Our family just keeps growing,” Heard posted on Twitter on Thursday. “Love where our program is going. #tobecontinued”
Givens averaged 16.8 points and seven rebounds as a junior, helping Lafayette to a 28-4 record and the second round of the state tournament. She shot 43.7 percent from the field and scored 34 total points in two games at state.
Givens is WKU’s fourth verbal commit in the 2015 class. She joins Arkansas point guard Sidnee Bopp, Georgia shooting guard Kayla Smith and Alabama wing player Morgan Tipton.
The recruit’s first chance to officially sign with the school will be during the November early signing period.
