Simone Goods’ AAU coach talks about the center’s skill set, commitment to WKU

I spoke this morning with Bobby Massey, AAU coach of Western Kentucky’s latest women’s basketball 2015 verbal commit, Simone Goods from Omaha, Neb.

You can read more about Goods – a 6-foot-2-inch center – here.

Here is what Massey had to say about Goods:

Goods’ skill-set: “Very underrated 3-point shooter. She can stretch the court pretty good for being a 6-2, 6-3 post. No one really got to see that because the head coach wouldn’t let her do that. She’s left-handed, could handle the ball pretty well and can help break pressure.”

What she liked about WKU: “They were like big sisters to her. They made her feel real comfortable about that transition of going there. She loved them as people. The one thing I liked most about it was when they called me, I talked to them a couple times, and they didn’t even mention basketball. They just talked about Simone as a person. That was big to me.”

Interest level. Massey said there were some smaller DI programs involved: “Last year, she had a bad ankle sprain, so she really didn’t get to get seen on the circuit last year. This was her first year really getting out to the major tournaments, and she had a good high school season and an outstanding summer.”
